Hey,
So today I’m going to talk to you about an incredible book I
read a while ago. This book put a very interesting spin on a subject that is
harrowing, teenage cancer. Yes that book is in fact ‘The fault in our stars’ by
Mr John Green.
This man is an incredible writer. He wrote about a subject
that, let’s face it, no one ever wants to think about or speak about let alone
read a whole book on. However it has attracted an amazing amount of people to read about it because of John Green.
This book, for me, was a huge inspiration, as I’m sure it was
for many others who have read it. It showed us that even though these teenagers
were dying of cancer, they still got to live their lives and do great things,
such as getting to go to Amsterdam.
To me, reading the book was heart-warming and uplifting. Yes
I know that sounds like a weird thing to say as the topic is about teenagers
who have a severe illness which is killing them. However while you are reading
it, that isn’t what is going through your mind, well it wasn’t for me anyway.
What was going through my mind was how incredible these people are and that
actually we should all probably be a bit more like Hazel Grace and Augustus
Waters.
It is a huge eye opener of a book and one that I can say for
sure I will be reading again, soon.
I have recommended this book to an uncountable number of
people and nearly all of them have come back to me with the question of ‘how
can you read something that is so awful and so sad?’ and my response to that
is, no matter how sad the subject is, it doesn’t always mean the book is going
to be a depressing read.
John Green, instead of writing a book with an ending about
everyone living happily ever after, wrote a realistic book with a realistic
ending. He didn’t write about people who have everything they could ever want
or people with a perfect life, he wrote a book about something that is going on
every single day in this world. It may not all be sunshine and roses but this
man showed us that, if you really want, you can still have a pretty awesome
time even when life’s giving you a complete nightmare.
‘The Fault In Our Stars’ was the first book I have read by
John Green but I will definitely be reading more of this fantastic man’s books.
He is an absolutely incredible author who wrote one of my favourite books of
all time.
Please let me know what you think of the book if you have
read it and if you haven’t then I urge you to go out and get yourself a copy!
:D
