It's been a week full of ups and downs for me, which helped push me to make a start on my research into Mindfulness.
I mentioned in my last coffee chat that I was hoping to get into Mindfulness and begin to understand/practice it more, however I wasn't sure when I'd get the chance to start this so I am super happy I have given myself the time to read a little on the subject and even practice it in certain situations.
An extremely basic part of Mindfulness that I have used the most so far is a breathing technique. You are to breathe in to the count of 6, hold for 2 then exhale to the count of 8. This exercise is aimed at bringing you back into the present moment, relax yourself and control your breathing.
Mindfulness also teaches you to listen to your inner voice and reminds you to trust yourself.
I can already see that Mindfulness is going to be a great thing in my life and help me out in many different scenarios. I am super happy I have allowed myself the time to begin my Mindfulness experience and see what it's all about. Immediately I could see what all the hype is about. It's the simplest thing to carry around with you on a day to day basis and put into practice in any situation you find yourself in.
For me it has been a huge help when I have been in college trying to get work done. If I've been struggling to focus on the task in hand, I have gone straight to the breathing technique and it has worked a treat so far!
